The Colorado Grand is a 1,000-mile, five-day driving tour of Colorado for pre-1961 sports cars. Since 1989, the event has generated more than $2 million for small Colorado charities and communities. Held with the cooperation of the Colorado State Patrol, the Grand is sponsored by Mercedes Benz USA, Giraud-Perregaux, Premier Financial Services, Hagerty Insurance Agency, Green Traurig LLP, Fed Ex Custom Critical Transport and RM Auctions.
There were 126 cars in this year’s tour, and they made a scheduled stop in Meeker where the Lions Club had prepared a delicious lunch for them. They, in turn, made a $5,000 donation to the Lions Club. In addition, they will also donate a $3,500 scholarship to be awarded by a local board of community and Lions Club members.
This is a special scholarship which will require a separate application and has different qualifications than the regular Lions Club scholarship.
