MEEKER — Darryl and Susan Stout of Meeker are this week’s “home of” honorees. Darryl has been a Meeker resident since 1971. Susan moved here in 1978. The Stouts will celebrate their seventh wedding anniversary in October.
Darryl and Susan are self-employed ranchers. They own and operate Stout Ranches.
They have five children. All of their kids were graduated from Meeker High School.
Darryl’s daughter Trina Kennedy and husband Thomas of Meeker have three children: two boys, Tannen and Trae, and a daughter, Tatumn. Darryl’s son Shane Stout, his wife Tarrah, son Justin and daughter Anna live in Salt Lake City. Susan’s son Ty Gates, his wife Rachel and sons Tristen and Spencer live in Castle Rock. Susan’s son Tel Gates and wife Ashlie live in Littleton. Susan’s daughter Tanisha Gates resides in Nashville, Tenn.
In their spare time, the Stouts enjoy traveling in their fifth-wheel, Darryl rides his four-wheeler and ropes and Susan likes to read and swim.
When asked what she likes most about living in Meeker, Susan replied, “It’s hard to put into words. The close-knit family relationships and friendships. Love the small town community and the natural beauty of the area.”
