MEEKER I The 2012 Range Call Celebration came to close with the annual Ranch Rodeo. Seven teams entered the “Four-Man” event where four team members work together to tie down a roping steer, brand a calf, pen a yearling, and milk a cow. When the tasks are complete all members race to a finish area to stop the clock. The team of Neil and Kari Brennan and Ryan and Kelcee Vroman had the fastest time of 3 minutes, 31 seconds. The second place team consisted of Coley Turner, Hallie Blunt, JC Chintala and Aaron Webster with a time of 4:15. Travis Anderson, Coley Turner, Lenny Klinglesmith, Ryan Vroman teamed up to finish third in the contest.
Following the Four-Man event, teams had the option to add a youth under 15, or two if they were willing to drop an adult team member, to compete in the family competitions. The first family event was Team Penning, where five team members work together to pen three cattle sorted out of a bunch. The family team of Coley and Kelton Turner, Hallie Blunt, JC Chintala and Aaron Webster won the event with a time of 1 minute, 32 seconds. Finishing second were Lenny and Lila Klinglesmith, Kenzie Turner, Travis Anderson, and Ryan Vroman. The crowd favorite was a team made up of kids under 15 — LoriAnn and Lila Klinglesmith, Lane Anderson, Kenzie Turner and Kash Atwood proved there is tough competition coming soon.
Team branding was the last event of the day, where the family teams work together to brand as many calves as possible in two minutes. The team of Coley and Kelton Turner, J.C. Chintala, Aaron Webster, and Hallie Blunt tied with the team of Neil and Kari Brennan, Kelcee and Ryan Vroman, and Kash Atwood with four calves branded each. A tie in the event gave the Brennan/Vroman/Atwood team a two point lead overall after combining the three events and weighing the four-man competition. Buckles were awarded to the combination winners by the Range Call Committee.
