MEEKER I The second annual Main Street Madness 3-on-3 Basketball tournament was a success this year. The event, hosted by the Meeker Chamber of Commerce, attracted 18 teams to compete in different divisions. The most popular division was the adult men’s bracket.
There were no junior high girls’ teams and the high school and open women’s divisions were combined into a three-team round robin.
The adult men’s champions were Dream Team Too consisting of Kyle Battige, Jeff and Brian Shanahan and CJ Van Weinen. The high school boys’ division winner was Dream Team 3 with Nate Walsh, Teddy Grundy and Jeremy Musgrave. The team of Hunter Garcia, Cole Brown, Logan Hughes and Sheridan Harvey, calling themselves Ginger Plus Three, won the junior high boys’ division.
The women’s division was won by Team “Team Name” with Sydney Hughes, Taylor Neilson, Ohana Mataia and Kaitlynn Dinwiddie. The event filled the courts on Main Street Saturday morning for fun-filled games. The competitors, old and young, enjoyed a day of basketball in the sun. Fortunately no one was hurt (beyond their pride) and can look forward to the third annual tournament.
