Rangely girls go 2-1 on the week
RANGELY I The Lady Panthers were kind of stuck last week. Stuck on 52, anyway. In its first of three games last week, Rangely scored almost 52 points in a 51-48 win Jan. 19 over Moffat County’s junior varsity in a non-league game.
Community grieves with Martin family
MEEKER I A family lost a son. A community grieved with them. But, in the midst of sadness, there was good news.
Student fundraiser Saturday at fairgrounds
MEEKER I Students planning a research and ecology expedition to the Sea of Cortez will hold a fundraiser supper and bingo night Saturday at the Rio Blanco County Fairgrounds, starting at 6 p.m.
CNCC classes remain open for registration
MEEKER | There are several CNCC Community Education Classes still open for registration. Many classes start in February. Registration for most classes is still open if the class has not started.
Ice Fishing Derby at Lake Avery Saturday
MEEKER I The ERBM Recreation and Park District is sponsoring a free Family Ice Fishing Derby at Lake Avery on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those wishing to ride the bus to the lake should be at the Meeker Recreation Center by 8:30 a.m.

Lady Panthers lose twice
RANGELY I After going 3-0 in games the week prior, the Lady Panthers went the other direction last week. Rangely lost a close one to Duchesne, Utah, 51-49, on Jan. 12 and then fell to state-ranked and league-favorite Paonia 56-43 last Friday.
Rangely defeats Paonia
RANGELY I Statistically, the Panthers came out on the short end, except in the one stat that really matters — the final score. Despite being outrebounded 40-25 and having 15 fewer assists, Rangely won another league game Friday, beating Paonia 68-64.

In basic training
MEEKER I Jon Burnell, son of Jody (and Caleb) Gardner and Sam Burnell, all formerly of Meeker, has entered into basic training for the U.S. Army in Fort Sill, Okla. He will graduate in March.
