Schools affected statewide
MEEKER I One of Meeker’s biggest 2011 stories had a ripple effect on schools across the state. Built in 2010, the $18 million Meeker Elementary School was closed to students and staff in August 2011 over concerns about structural safety.

Hardy wins West Grand
MEEKER I “It was a good week for Hardy,” Meeker wrestling coach J.C. Watt said of senior Justin Hardy who won the 170-pound bracket last Saturday in Kremmling. Hayden won the team title, which featured 13 teams.

FAA honors Coulter’s service
MEEKER I Former Meeker Airport manager Gary Coulter was surprised when Rick Stednitz of the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Safety Team showed up in Meeker to honor the retired pilot and aviation mechanic with the Charles Taylor Master Mechanic award.

Meeker’s head wrestling coach J.C. Watt has been asking former Meeker wrestlers to speak to his team about ways the lessons learned in wrestling have helped them later in life.
Rangely students of the month
RANGELY I The two winning students of the month are in third and first grade respectively. Both students received a slushee certificate from Kum & Go or a choice from the Panther Treasure box.

MEEKER I Dubbed ‘the toughest tournament in the United States,’ the Reno Tournament of Champions gave University of Wyoming Cowboy wrestler Joe LeBlanc his first loss of his senior season.
