2012 Capitol Christmas Tree Celebration

Many people watched as the 73-foot Englemann spruce, weighing 9,000 pounds, was loaded onto an 80-foot trailer.

The Capitol Christmas Tree coming down the Flattops Scenic Byway (RBC Road 8), beginning its journey to Washington, D.C.

There were more than 30 entries in the parade of lights, with the Meeker Range Call float being voted best of show.

Ute Council president Gary Hayes enjoyed hearing the drums beating and was thankful for the hospitality the three Ute Tribes received.

Saturday’s festivities included a street fair with non-profit organizations like the VFW booth pictured here.

Santa and Mrs. Claus led the way out of Meeker early Monday morning on the way to Washington, D.C. with the 2012 Capitol Christmas Tree.
