MEEKER | “We saw a lot of different competition,” Meeker youth wrestling coach Carl Padilla said of the tournament this past weekend, where 37 young Cowboys competed in. The Cowboys will wrestle in Hayden this Saturday.
Twenty-five of Meeker’s wrestlers placed in the top four of their respective age and weight divisions, including champions Tilden Gates in the 8U and Brenden Clatterbaugh in the 12U division.
Peyton Muxlow (4U), Gael Rodriqez (6U), Isaiah Gianinetti (6U), Samuel Merz (6U), Tucker Chinn (10U) and Diego Robles (12U) were all runners-up.
Mattaio Padilla, Dillon Koenig, Josh Simmons, Miles Franklin, Deegan Moody, Lyam Richardson, Bow Muxlow, Dublin Price, Gauge Buhler and Cooper Michels were all consolation champions, while Toren Gates, Dextor Chinn, Kael Overton, Dathan Dade, Garrett Merz all finished fourth.
Daxton Koenig, Ryan Handberg, Grayer Moody, Alaric O’dell, William Foster and Adrianna Price all won a match but did not place. Damon Dade, Dagon Dade, Trevor Keys, Dawson Richardson, Tayze Buhler and Carson Blunt also participated.
