34 under par wins Bob Tucker Memorial

MEEKER — ”It was wonderful,” said Jo Tucker about the first annual golf tournament played in memory of her husband Bob.
The Coach Bob Tucker Memorial raised funds for a scholarship in the former Meeker graduate/teacher/ coach’s name.
Chas Mills received the first scholarship awarded last year.
According to Jo Tucker, this year’s recipient will be announced at the graduation ceremony May 24.
The tournament was delayed one week because of snow on the ground and, although there were traces of snow left May 10, the tournament started on time.
“Bob has tested us to be on his team,” said Irven Griffin, Meeker’s new golf manager.
Eighteen teams divided into two flights to play in the tournament last Saturday at the Meeker Golf Course. In an effort to raise money, mulligans and extra yardage were sold and used.
Winning the first annual Coach Bob Tucker Memorial tournament was the team of Tommy Gilmore, Derrick Villarreal, George and Jason Back.
Gilmore’s team shot a 34 under par 50 to win the first flight.
Dave Brown, Lex Collins, Kelly Sheridan and J.C. Watt finished second with a gross score of 59.
Trey Morris teamed up with the Rohn boys, including Greg, Tristin and their father Dennis, and also shot a gross score of 59 but had the best handicap score of 45 to win first net in the first flight.
Quinn and Mike Shoemaker along with John Mickel and Steve Cochran tied with Pat and Andy Coryell, Pat Hughes and Shane Phelan, for the second best net score of 47.
The second flight was won by Chad Luce, Bill Devergie, Gary Stewart and Brice Ducey, who shot a gross score of 58. Mindy Burke, Pat Walch, along with Dave and Jan Henderson finished second, with a gross score of 64.
Hallie Blunt, her nephew Tyrell Turner, and Cameron and Pam Stranathan finished tied for the best net score (46) in the second flight, with Joe Parmenter, Dean Pilcher, Bruce Pilcher and Jim Adams.
