MEEKER I At the 4-H Achievement Banquet, Kathy Collins, 4-H Foundation Board member, presented the Outstanding 4-H Jr. Member award to Madison Shults. The Outstanding Intermediate 4-H Member award went to Taylor Neilson, and the Outstanding Sr. 4-H Member went to Morgan Neilson.
The Outstanding 4-H membership awards are selected from a list of members based on who completed their projects, the number of projects they are involved in (whether livestock projects or indoor projects), attendance at council meetings, if they are a club officer, and if they competed at state fair. All this criteria is taken into consideration. If there is a tie, then the number of years they have been a 4-H member is also taken into consideration.
The 4-H Foundation Board consists of volunteer members in both Meeker and Rangely, who dedicate their time to serve on the board and select 4-H members for awards and scholarships, based on their accomplishments. Each member selected to serve on the board serves a four-year term at the beginning of their service, unless the member is replacing someone who has stepped down from the board.
Board members also solicit donations from companies, organizations and individual persons to help support the many activities they sponsor throughout the year. These activities consist of helping pay membership dues for 4-H members, sending five youth winners to state fair, Washington Focus Trip for a senior member, 4-H scholarships and the Outstanding 4-H Member and Danforth awards.
If you would like to be a 4-H Foundation member or if you would like to donate funds to help support the 4-H Foundation and its projects, you can contact foundation president J.H. Sheridan at 878-9011 or [email protected] All donations are tax deductible.
