RANGELY | On Jan. 11, the Rangely 4-H council met for the first time after Christmas break. Torie Slagle led the meeting while Shelby Neiberger, Raelynn Norman, and Tessa Slagle ate pizza. They brainstormed fun activities to do for the new year. Bring your ideas in! Dessa Watson with Rio Blanco County Extension shared her idea of taking a trip to the hot springs in Glenwood, but needs to find a time that doesn’t interfere with school activities.
A select group of senior 4-Hers will go to the elementary school to recruit new members to 4-H. They will introduce the possibilities of joining 4-H to the elementary students such as raising livestock, cake decorating, shooting sports, horse showmanship, scrapbooking, livestock judging and, of course, the fun trips that are organized. The next council meeting will be Feb. 8 at 6 p.m., followed by the enrollment party at 7 p.m. We will vote for the new 2010 council officers. The council signed a thank-you card to Williams Production for donating a large amount of money to the council. Jeani will be gone for six weeks starting at the beginning of April, so try and complete all enrollment forms/community pen paperwork soon. Long-term care is still canceled until flu season is over. The district retreat will be March 26-28.
