RANGELY I The Panther Country has started another busy 4-H year. They have met several times for livestock judging and club meetings. On Feb. 25, McKale Pennell, Cheyenne Steele, Sarah Connor, Samantha Lapp and Tessa Slagle voted in this year’s new officers. The 2010 president is Cheyenne Steele, vice president — Torie Slagle, co-secretaries — Kaylee Mecham and Samantha Lapp, treasurer — Layne Mecham, historian/reporter — Tessa Slagle and club photographer — McKale Pennell.
Following the election, the club members had a contest on who could name the most body parts on livestock animals. On March 25, Layne Mecham, Kaylee Mecham, Sarah Connor, McKale Pennell, Samantha Lapp, Torie Slagle, and Tessa Slagle all came ready to a club meeting to learn about what we should be looking for when we purchase 4-H animals. Tessa Slagle started the meeting by giving a demonstration on facts about goats, McKale Pennell followed with a demonstration on pigs, Samantha Lapp presented parts of beef, Sarah Connor parts of a pig and Cheyenne Steele’s presentation was on removing and treating fungus on a sheep.
All members need to be ready to give a demonstration if they have not given one. Congratulations to Layne Mecham who placed grand champion at Swine Field Days in Fort Morgan.
