4-H report and Rangely 4-H Fish Buddies

Members of the Rangely Fish Buddies 4-H sport fishing club A.J. Garner, Keihlin Myers, Del Garner and Paityn Myers watch as staff at the Glenwood Springs fish hatchery process collected rainbow and cutthroat trout eggs. 4-H leaders organized the June 18 tour.
RANGELY I Rangely 4-H had a council meeting June 6 in which 34 members and parents met at Highway 139 at 6 p.m. From 6-6:30 we cleaned up both sides of the highway for a mile. At 6:30 p.m., we went to Shirley Sinclair’s house. We had our meeting in her back yard and “pigged out” on hotdogs and hamburgers. Thank you Janet Kenney and Shirley Sinclair for cooking our food and Bill Kenney, Alan Ducey and Rich Garner for making sure we didn’t get run over while cleaning the road.
At the meeting, we talked about the feeder show, the senior trip, our last Eagle Crest visit on June 2 and more. Pre-fair feeder show grand champions were Klaire Denny with her pig, Justine Dembowski with her lamb and Tessa Slagle with her goat. Thanks to our sponsors Clarks Auto for the ice and Bill Hume with Nichols Store for the prizes. We had a great turn-out at the show.
The senior trip was another thing that we discussed. Some 4-H senior members from both ends of the county went to Las Vegas, Nev., the Grand Canyon, Mesa Verde and river rafting in Moab, Utah, during the Memorial Day holiday.
At our last Eagle Crest visit we played bingo with the residents.
Reminders for 4-H members: if you want to go on the 2012 Colorado State Fair trip and are between ages 8-13, the applications need to be turned in to the extension office by Monday, July 16. The Rio Blanco County’s Got Talent entry forms need to be turned in by July 3 if you want to participate. The 4-H outstanding member forms need to be turned into the extension office by Sept. 1. If you have any questions call the extension office at 878-9495. We hope to see you at our next council meeting on July 9 at 6 p.m. at Elks Park. Our Eagle Crest visit is coming up on July 2 at 4 p.m.We are decorating pet rocks, so bring a rock and everything else is provided. Hope to see you at our upcoming 4-H activities.
