RBC I Not for the leisure rider or those who go snowmobiling once or twice a year, a 70-mile endurance race will be held in Meeker in March.
Sponsored by the White River Snowmobile Club and Extreme Power Sports, the 2016 White River Rumble Cross Country Race will be held on March 12.
There are four race classes, including: Golden Age – 18 to 49 years, presented by Craig Powersports; Legends Stock – 50 years and older, presented by Ripple Creek Lodge; Open Modified – presented by Rio Blanco County; and Vintage 33 – 1990 and older – 33 mile loop.
First place is worth $300, second place pays $150 and third place pays $75.
There will be in excess of $800 in prizes and fly bucks given away at the start and awards ceremony to spectators and participants.
Entry fee is $40 before Feb. 20, $50 after Feb. 20 and $60 on the day of the race.
The race is the only one of its kind in the Western United States.
Organizers state, “This isn’t a race for sprinters or for the person with the fastest sled. You will be challenged the entire race with rough trails, creek crossings, tons of elevation change and physical fatigue.”
