RANGELY | Last weekend the junior high basketball teams traveled to Steamboat for a triangular with Steamboat, Hayden and Rangely. The A team started off playing Hayden and won with a score of 39-10. Andrew Dorris led the way with 11 points, eight rebounds and four steals, followed by Timothy Scoggins with 10 points, 12 rebounds and four steals. Fisher Winder did a great job defensively finishing with seven steals and 10 points. Marsten Wagner finished with four points, followed by Kevin Wren and Anthony Dorris both adding two points. Coach Mergelman was impressed by the way the team started out in Steamboat. “We were up 8-4 at the end of the first quarter and then just ran out of gas,” she said. Wagner finished with four points, Winder and Scoggins both added two points for a final score of 53-8. The B-teams did well, getting a lot of experience this weekend since it was the first game for many of them. Although they lost both games they are improving a lot. This Saturday they travel to Craig for a triangular with Craig and Steamboat.
