Amy Thayer measures the height of Rick Bishop, one of the 710 people who went through the 9Health Fair on Saturday at the Fairfield Center in Meeker.
“We were real pleased (with the turnout),” said Drew Varland, chief of nursing at Pioneers Medical Center. In Rangely, nearly 200 people participated in the fair on Saturday, while another 260 had blood work done prior to the event. “If people couldn’t attend, they had the option of getting blood drawn here (at Rangely District Hospital) before the health fair,” said Kelly Just, lab manager at RDH.
Varland was one of the volunteers at Saturday’s health fair in Meeker. “It’s a communitywide effort,” Varland said. The same day, Rangely’s health fair was held at the Early Education Center because of a scheduling conflict, but Kelly Just, site coordinator, said, “It went really well.”
