MEEKER — The 9Health Fair will be coming to Meeker Saturday, April 12.
The event will be located at the Fairfield Center. It opens to the public at 7 a.m. and continues through 11 a.m. Basic screenings offered at the 9Health Fair include the 31-component blood chemistry analysis which screens cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL, glucose, thyroid, kidney and liver function and more.
Cost of the blood chemistry screen is $30. During the same blood analysis, men 40 and older can receive a prostatic specific antigen screening for $25. A blood count screening is also available at a cost of $15. Participants in the blood screenings, other than diabetics, are reminded to fast for 12 hours prior to the blood draw.
Participants are also reminded to drink plenty of water the night before and morning of the blood draw and to continue to take their medications.
Other health screenings will also be available, including height and weight, blood pressure, vision, body in balance, skin cancer screening and breast exams. Staff from Dr. Maruca’s office in Grand Junction will again be present to conduct bone density screenings at a cost of $25, payable directly to his office.
The Rio Blanco Fire Protection District, Pioneers Medical Center and the Lions Club join forces to bring this event to Meeker. If you are interested in helping, contact Kris Borchard at 878-3443 or Christy Atwood at 878-4014.
