I have a suggestion concerning the justice center problem. Why can’t the elementary school be renovated and the offices of the town clerk, county nurse, etc. be moved to the school building and the Town Hall be made into the justice center? The police department already has an office there. It would cost much less to go this way than to build a new building. I also don’t think Fifth Street should be closed on that block.
The school is a beautiful building and should not be torn down. I have a soft spot in my heart for it, as I was among the first students to move into it after it was finished. I am sure many others feel the same way.
Let’s get creative, save a historic building and taxpayer money.
