Meeker, Colorado is the county seat of Rio Blanco County, situated in the northwestern part of the state. The population is about 2,400 people within the city limits. The elevation is 6,249 feet.
Climate is typical of the western high country. Summer daytime high temperatures range from 70 to the mid-90's, and evening lows from the mid-40's to the high 50's. Winter brings snow and cold temperatures, but the days tend to be sunny and humidity is always low. The town offers a gateway to the popular White River National Forest and the Flat Tops Wilderness Area.

A two-year accredited college, Colorado North Western Community College, is located in the nearby town of Rangely. Meeker sponsors a full schedule of classes in their outreach program.

The town also sports a full featured bowling alley.
