MEEKER — The Meeker High School Accountability Committee is seeking parent input (through surveys) at upcoming parent-teacher conferences in March.
The committee has worked long and hard in developing a parent survey on topics including class offerings, student achievement, extracurricular activities, parent accessibility and the school lunch program, just to name a few.
The surveys will give respondents the opportunity to provide detailed comment instead of only a canned answer format. Surveys will be mailed with report cards for parents who are unable to attend the conferences and all are encouraged to participate in the process.
Other topics of interest at the Feb. 11 meeting were the changes to the March newsletter that will also be available in Spanish. The goal is to improve communication and cultural outreach between MHS and the Spanish-speaking parents.
The BAC is also working to provide workshops and alternate activities for the senior students during CSAP testing in March. Some topics suggested were roundtable discussions with MHS alumni on challenges and adjustment to college life and help with scholarship applications.
The BAC also identified some “needs” for items in the school and will include a MHS wish list for any businesses or individuals that may have items in good condition (new or used) that they would like to donate.
Items on the wish list include:
n Used sofa or couches
n Recliners or lounge chairs
If you’d like to donate these items contact MHS at 878-9070
The next High School Accountability Committee meeting is Monday, March 10 at 6 p.m. in the high school library.
