Meeker High School graduate TJ Shelton, pictured in May with his parents, Janae and Bobby Shelton, after being honored as the 2A/3A “Wrestler of the Year,” was also recently honored for his football skills. Shelton was selected to play in the annual Colorado High School Coaches Association All-State Game in Alamosa, where he was the starting fullback for the North team. “TJ did a lot of good things and he was on the winning team,” Shane Phelan, who was Shelton’s high school coach, said. Phelan said it is an honor for Shelton because only one player from each league, in all classifications, is chosen to play. “It was fun,” Shelton, who will attend the Colorado School of Mines this fall, said.
