Annual banquet closes MHS boys basketball season

MEEKER — Even though the
games ended several weeks ago, the
Meeker High School boys basketball
officially closed out their year
with the annual banquet hosted by
the parents. Senior Tyler King handled
the master of ceremony duties
and started out by extending a
thank you to those involved with
the season, especially Jerry Wilber
and Dale Frisby for devoted attendance
at the games.
Assistant coach Matt Dupire
congratulated the junior varsity
team on their 11-3 record and then
handed out participation certificates
to Trevor Matrisciano, Ryan
Wix, Spencer Madison, Pat Love,
Clinton Kilduff and Tyler King.
Missing were Cameron Stranathan
and Cesar Lopez. Dupire had
numerous thanks to share with the
audience.
Head coach Klark Kindler also
had several thanks to extend.
Parents, wives, assistants, scorekeepers,
administration and school
board were all included in his opening
remarks. Kindler then discussed
the 15-6 season of the varsity and
spoke briefly of each of the players.
Coach Kindler spoke of the two seniors
on the team, Joseph Galvan and
Tyler King, and their leadership.
Receiving varsity letter certificate
awards were Galvan, Tyler
Matrisciano, Brock Campbell,
Dakota Rowlette, Mitch Jacob, Seth
Bosch, Ever Olivas, Tyrel Gerloff
and Cole Steiner. Missing but still
acknowledged were Brian Crowe,
Colton Brown and Jake Nieslanik.
For the second year in a row, the
varsity team was awarded the prestigious
Academic All-State award
which recognizes the team’s cumulative
3.2 GPA. In addition, individual
awards were bestowed upon the
following:
 Captain Awards – Tyler King,
Brian Crowe, Tyler Matrisciano
 Chairman of the Boards (most
rebounds) – Dakota Rowlette – 8.5

 Assist Leader – Mitch Jacob –
5.0 assists per game
 Free Throw Percentage – Jake
Nieslanik – 80 percent
 Points per Game – Dakota
Rowlette – 14.1 ppg
 Coaches Awards – Mitch
Jacob, Ever Olivas, Ryan Wix
 Cowboy Shootout Scholarship
Award – Tyler King
 All-Conference First Team –
Dakota Rowlette,Mitch Jacob, Brian
Crowe
 Honorable Mention – Tyrel
Gerloff, Tyler Matrisciano.
