MEEKER I The 28th annual White River Electric golf tournament was held Friday, June 15 with 65 players from around the state participating in the fund-raising event for the Meeker High School athletic department. All three places in the 18-hole scramble format were won by a combination of local and out of town players.
Rick Bailey (Pueblo), Bob Waker (Craig), Greg Ackerman (Meeker), Todd Gerloff (Meeker) and Mark Dean (Craig) turned in a 9 under par 59 to win by two strokes over the team of Erik Brown (Meeker), Wendell Goad (Silt), Kurt Blunt (Meeker), Dave Waldner (Colorado Springs) and Sally Lou Shults (Meeker). In third, with a score of 62, after a four-way putt-off to determine the winner, was the team of Bryce Ducey (Meeker), Jeff Bailey (Monument), Jake Welle (Meeker), Tyrel Gerloff (Meeker) and Grant Agee (Denver). The White River Electric Tournament is one of the oldest fund-raising events held at the Meeker Golf Course each year.
