August incidents up over 2008

RBC | During August 2009, the Rio Blanco County Communications Center experienced a 6.2 percent increase in activity compared to August 2008.
Total incidents received through the communications center increased to 1,163 in August 2009, up from 1,095 in August 2008. The number of calls for service decreased for the sheriff’s office with 271 incidents in August 2009, down from 304 in August 2008. Traffic stops increased from 444 in August 2008 to 523 in August 2009 for the sheriff’s office. The Meeker P.D. responded to 218 calls for service during August 2009, down from 243 in August 2008. Traffic stops for the Meeker P.D. also increased significantly with 116 stops in August 2009, up from 51 stops in August 2008. Traffic stops for both agencies continue to account for the overall increase in incidents.
Activity for both agencies included these most notable classifications: 639 traffic stops; 48 VIN inspections; 47 animal calls; 46 suspicious incidents; 27 traffic complaints; 26 civil situations; 24 motorist assists; 20 incidents assisting other agencies; 18 accidents with property damage; 17 incidents assisting the Colorado State Patrol; 15 jail transports; 15 warrant arrests; 15 incidents assisting the Rangely Police Department; 14 citizen assists; 14 traffic arrests; 12 incidents assisting the Division of Wildlife; 12 disturbances; 10 thefts; nine criminal mischief cases; eight DUIs; six narcotics cases; four domestic violence cases; four harassment cases; three injury accidents; three assaults; three burglaries; three fraud cases; three trespass cases; two hit and run accidents and one restraining order violation.
During August 2009, the Rio Blanco County Detention Center operated near capacity, housing a daily average of 16.61 inmates, with 15.06 males and 1.61 females. The number of bookings decreased in August 2009 with 81 people processed in the detention center, down from 103 bookings in July 2009. Of the 81 people processed, 73 were jailed and 8 were booked and released. The number of meals served by the detention center decreased from 1,577 meals served in July 2009 to 1,320 meals served in August 2009.
The Rangely Police Department reported their communications center logged 458 incidents during August 2009. Of those incidents, the most noteworthy classifications for the Rangely P.D. include: 205 traffic contacts; 30 VIN inspections; 26 animal calls; 17 disturbances; 14 incidents assisting the Rio Blanco Sheriff’s Office; 12 citizen assists; 12 arrests; 11 sets of fingerprints taken; eight incidents assisting the Division of Wildlife; six property damage/stolen property cases; five suspicious incidents; four lock-outs; three incidents assisting the Colorado State Patrol; three warrant arrests; two assaults and one narcotics case.
