RBC I Winter is headed this way before we know it. If you’re heading out of town, being prepared for hazardous road conditions is a good idea. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has multiple resources available for travelers to find out what kinds of conditions they may be traveling into.
* View streaming video: Go to CDOT’s traveler information site at www.cotrip.org and view any of 48 traffic cameras to see real-time video of roadway traffic and conditions.
* Road alerts and conditions: On the www.cotrip.org site, you’ll see travel alerts and road work alerts on the right-hand side — these highlight significant events, delays and/or closures. Consult the orange tabs across the top of page, including road work and road conditions to gather information on additional impacts in your chosen areas.
* Email and text alerts: Sign up to receive free email and/or text messages about road work road closures and other news. Go to the website at www.coloradodot.info and choose the green phone icon in the upper right corner. Sign up for the highways, areas of the state and type of announcement you wish to receive. You can also follow CDOT on Twitter @coloradodot.
