Bicycles parked outside Parkview Elementary School in Rangely represented just a segment of the nearly 300 Rangely children who participated in National Hike/Bike to School Day on Wednesday, Oct. 8.
More than 90 preschool and kindergarten-aged children, 80 elementary children and 120 middle and high school students joined in the annual activity, the second annual event for the RE-4 district. The district plans to continue promoting regular hiking and biking to school while the weather holds, and the RE-4 Wellness Committee, which hosted last week’s event, hopes to sponsor another day promoting hike/bike to school month in May. Rio Blanco County Public Health donated granola bars and water for the event.
