MEEKER I The Bureau of Land Management in Meeker and the Northwest Colorado Resource Advisory Council are seeking additional members of the public interested in serving on an advisory group for the White River Field Office Resource Management Plan Amendment.
Participants will serve as a subgroup under the Northwest Colorado Resource Advisory Council (RAC). The Northwest Colorado RAC formed a subgroup for the White River Plan Amendment in October, 2007, and is seeking to diversify its membership. Members should have specific knowledge of the 2.6-million acre White River Field Office in northwestern Colorado and be willing to attend meetings in Meeker this fall, winter and spring.
The subgroup will provide feedback to the Northwest RAC about the formulation of the field office’s Resource Management Plan Amendment, which is addressing an anticipated increase in oil and gas activity within the boundaries of the Field Office.
Membership on the subgroup is being sought for the Northwest RAC’s three general categories: Category 1 members represent commercial interests or users such as livestock grazing, timber, mining, oil and gas, realty and rights-of-ways, off-highway vehicle groups and guides and outfitters.
Category 2 members represent environmental organizations, archaeology/historical interests, wildlife organizations, wild horse and burros and dispersed/general recreation. Category 3 members represent state or other governmental agencies, tribes, academic institutions and the public-at-large.
If interested, submit a letter of interest to the Bureau of Land Management, 220 E. Market St., Meeker, CO 81641 by Oct. 30. For additional information, call Kent Walter, field manager, 878-3800.
