MEEKER I The Barone Middle School A-team won two more football games last week and will play their final game of the season today in Starbuck Stadium against the Steamboat Springs Sailors. The BMS B-team won one and tied one and will also play its final game at home against the Rangely Panthers Saturday.
Both BMS teams traveled to Parachute last Thursday, where the B-team game ended in a 12-12 tie before the A-team shut out the young Cardinals 64-0.
“Our boys played really well,” head coach Jason Browning said of the blowout win.
The B-team beat the Rams from South Routt County (Soroco) last Saturday in Hayden, then the A-team pounded the Hayden Tigers 48-0.
“I was proud of our B-team because they were down a couple of times and battled back to win,” Browning said. “Our A-team has learned recently how to be really physical.”
The young Cowboys will have to be physical again tonight as they close their season today against the bigger Sailors from Steamboat.
“We beat them once, so this is a rematch,” Browning said. “They are always tough and we expect another good game.”
