The seventh-grade teams won both the A and B team brackets, and the eighth grade boys’ A-Team ended up third overall while the B-team was fourth.
The seventh grade boys went into the tournament as the No. 1 seed and played Rangely in their first A game. The Rangely Team was fired up for the game and came out shooting extremely well and playing outstanding defense.
It took the Cowboys about a quarter and a half to get settled in and take control of the game. They went into halftime up by 10, then turned up the pressure and tempo in the second half, running away with the game by the end. They were led by outstanding post play by Ryan Phelan, sharp shooting from Lane Anderson and exceptional defense from Jeremy Woodward.
The B team played well from start to finish to win their first round game easily, with Dax Sheridan, Cooper Main and Colby Clatterbaugh leading the way for the team.
Both teams had extremely physical final games, with three of the A team starters fouling out of the championship game.
The team never lost its composure, and the players off the bench stepped in to hold onto the lead created in the first half.
Meeker A and B teams both finished their season extremely well.
