MEEKER I Eleven Meeker Cowboys decided to go full steam ahead and add a week to their junior high track season.
“Moffat County’s Best of the Best meet was a very late addition to our schedule, and only a portion of the team was able to make it work,” commented head coach Marty Casey.
Brighton Bair, Jayden Overton, Ariel Gallegos, Natalie Kracht, Celine Lozano, Nora Gianinetti, Hailey Larson, and Stacie Mack for the girls’ team and Brendan Clatterbaugh, Judd Harvey and Teagan Sheridan for the boys.
“The team had a good meet, and most of the kids set a personal record. Many of them had several new PR’s. The throwing events, in particular, saw some dramatic increases from previous distances,” continued Casey.
Placing in the top three:
Bair, 1,600-meter run, 6 minutes 15 seconds, second place
Overton, 100-meter hurdles, 17.12 seconds, first place
Overton, 100-meter dash, 13.56, third place
Overton, 200-meter dash, 28.78, third place
4×200-meter relay—Gallegos, Kracht, Lozano, Overton, 2:5.38, second place
That’s a wrap for the 2019 junior high track season, sometimes adding an extra week can be challenging, but Casey was “happy to see the successes of those who were able to stick with the season for an extra week.”
