MEEKER I The Barone Middle School A and B teams combined last week to split with Hayden and Soroco.
“We came out and missed some serves and we didn’t finish on our attacks,” said volleyball coach Jamie Rogers. “The girls tried to rally back, but we were in too deep of a hole. After we got warmed up, the girls played well. Hayden was just on their game more than we were.”
Saturday, Meeker played Soroco, with the C team winning in two sets.
“They were passing much more controlled and didn’t miss very many serves,” Rogers said.
The Meeker A and B teams combined again and won in three games.
“We came out much more focused,” Rogers said. “They were serving into Soroco’s holes on the floor and finished on their attacks.”
Meeker’s seventh-grade A team won, while the B team lost against Hayden. The seventh-grade A and B teams combined to play Soroco, but lost.
“It’s incredible how much the girls are improving each week,” said coach Ivy Abshire.
Saturday, Meeker will host Rangely.
