MEEKER I Barone’s eighth-grade girls’ basketball teams had a good week.
First, the middle schoolers won against a shorthanded Rangely team 47-14 last Thursday and then beat Steamboat Springs 42-8 on Saturday.
The eighth-grade B team played a “scrimmage-type game” against Rangely, and also beat Steamboat 25-9.
“The girls are playing great and having lots of fun,” coach Debbie Henderson said.
In seventh-grade action, Meeker’s A team beat Rangely 49-11 and the Meeker B team won 14-9.
On Saturday, Rangely’s seventh-grade A team lost to Craig 34-7 and the B team lost 19-2.
“Both Meeker and Craig have very good teams,” said Rangely seventh-grade coach Jared Heaps. “We executed well defensively, but struggled on offense. The girls never quit and kept strong throughout the games.”
Rangely and Meeker will play a rematch Saturday in Rangely.
