MEEKER — The Meeker resident who died after being shot by a police officer March 28 had cocaine and methamphetamine in his system, according to the autopsy.
Chris Boudreaux, 35, was shot by Lt. Glenn Wilson after the officer responded to a domestic disturbance call at Valley Motel, the business Boudreaux co-owned. According to the autopsy, cocaine and methamphetamine were found in Boudreaux’s system, but the quantity of those drugs won’t be known until toxicology reports are completed in a few weeks.
The autopsy confirmed earlier reports that Boudreaux died of a single gunshot to the chest.
According to reports, Boudreaux waived a gun at himself and then pointed it at the officers who responded to the call.
Wilson was on routine administrative leave for several weeks after the shooting, but he has returned to “light duty” according to Police Chief Bob Hervey. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation was contacted by the Meeker Police Department to investigate the shooting incident involving the Meeker police officer.
Boudreaux, originally from Louisiana, and Jason Charlet purchased the Valley Motel in August 2007. Boudreaux, along with his wife and two children, lived on site and managed the motel.
Boudreaux’s family has moved back to Louisiana and Charlet has said he will try to sell the motel.
