“Nick’s focus was great,” Rangely golf coach Mark Skelton said. “It is great to see a kid come from a small town and compete with golfers from bigger programs. It’s intimidating, but Nick did a good job.”
Burri shot an 82 on a tough course in Steamboat Springs—good enough for fourth among 50 golfers.
Skelton said Burri’s stroke average this season is 83.5 but he has the potential to shoot in the 70s.
The state meet is a two-day, 36-hole tournament and will be played on the Eagle Ranch Golf Course in Eagle on Oct. 5-6.
