MEEKER | Nominations for school board candidates in the Meeker RE-1 district are now open. In November three directors will be elected for four-year terms on the school board. To qualify, candidates must be registered electors in the school district for at least 12 consecutive months before the election as shown on the records of the Rio Blanco County Clerk and Recorder. A person who desires to be a candidate for school director shall file a written notice of intention to be a candidate and a nomination petition. Petitions may be obtained at the administration office at 555 Garfield between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday. Completed petitions should be submitted to election officials Peggy Griffin or Connie Nelson no later than 4 p.m., Aug. 26.
