RBC — The recently released April 2008 law enforcement activity report shows an 8.14 percent year to date increase in the number of incidents logged by the Rio Blanco County Communications Center.
During April 2008, the Meeker Police Department responded to 188 calls for service, up from 157 in April 2007. Traffic stops also rose for the Meeker PD with 93 in April 2008, up from 18 in April 2007.
The Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office responded to 231 calls for service in April 2008, a decrease from 249 in April 2007. Traffic stops for the sheriff’s office also decreased in April 2008, with 302 stops, down from 442 in April 2007.
April’s most notable activity for both the police department and the sheriff’s office included 29 suspicious incidents, 24 accidents with property damage, 21 traffic complaints, 15 incidents assisting the Colorado State Patrol, 12 DUIs, 12 thefts, nine juvenile problems, eight traffic arrests, eight warrant arrests, six criminal mischief incidents, four disturbances, four harassment cases, three hit and run accidents, three burglaries, three narcotics cases, three restraining order violations, two trespassing cases, one injury accident, one vehicle theft, one child abuse case, one domestic violence call and one unattended death.
During April 2008, the Rio Blanco County Detention Center’s average daily inmate population was 12.13 inmates, with 10.17 males and 1.97 females. A total of 56 people were booked into the detention center, with 44 suspects jailed and 12 booked and released. The detention center also served 950 meals in April 2008.
