RANGELY I On Monday, the four candidates for Rio Blanco County commissioner gathered at the Rangely High School Auditorium to answer various questions and allow the voters to get to know a little more about each candidate in an event coordinated by the Rio Blanco County Republicans.
Candidates for commissioner of District Two include incumbent Jon Hill and challenger Jeff Rector, while candidates for commissioner of District Three are incumbent Jeff Eskelson and challenger Si Woodruff.
The questions, including previously prepared questions procured by Rio Blanco County Republican Chairman Logan Hill and those posed by the audience were asked by former County Commissioner Ken Parsons.
One notable audience-based question asked the candidates how they felt about allowing marijuana dispensaries in the county. Woodruff and Eskelson responded that they felt the issue should be put to a vote of the people while Hill responded that he felt further studies regarding the ability to test for impaired drivers were needed before moving forward. Rector said he echoed the sentiments expressed by the other candidates.
Candidates will gather again Monday at the 4-H exhibition hall at the Rio Blanco County Fairgrounds in Meeker beginning at 6:30 p.m.
