MEEKER I During the 42nd annual Ag and Tech Awards banquet held at the end of the school year at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colo., a number of students from all over the state received recognition. The event was attended by more than 200 agriculture students, faculty, staff and special guests who were on hand to honor those who received awards.
Among those receiving awards were three students who will receive the Dick Stull Memorial Scholarship which is awarded annually to NJC students who are active participants in the collegiate rodeo program. The scholarship was established by the Stull family at the time of Dick’s passing as a tribute to him and as a help to students who embrace the Western way of life and who share a passion for the same sport that Dick loved so dearly.
Students receiving this scholarship in 2011 include three Colorado students: Jessie Miller of Lake George, Sara Bale of Orchard and Brett Carroll of Meeker.
Sponsors of this year’s banquet included: Premier Farm Credit, Sterling Livestock Commission, Cargill, Centennial Conservation District, Johnson and Associates, CPAs, PC, Sonnenberg Agency, Performance Plus of Colorado and Colorado Community Bank.
Northeastern Junior College is the largest residential two-year college in Colorado. It offers a comprehensive agriculture curriculum in career, technical and transfer degree programs and is considered one of the largest ag schools in this region.
