Letters To The Editor
Letter: Rally for Amendment 62 will be Friday
Probably since near the dawn of time men who, for whatever reason, were bent on the destruction of their fellow man did so by making them seem, somehow, less than human. It was a tactic used to justify slavery in colonial America and one also employed by Hitler against the[Read More…]
Letter: Tea Party efforts have backfired
I am writing to congratulate and thank the Tea Party movement for their phenomenal performance in the Colorado gubernatorial race. Due to their “toss-out-the-incumbent-no-matter-their-positions-on-issues-or-level-of-competence” demeanor and utterly disastrous organizational framework, they have managed to vote in a Republican candidate that shares their convoluted and incoherent mission.
Story was invasion of privacy
This is a total invasion of privacy! You have no right to write your opinion of what you may think happened until it is proven to be the facts, and even in that instance, it is not the public’s business. Of course you have the right of freedom of speech[Read More…]
Letter: Kindness of strangers on Piceance Creek
I am writing out of gratefulness for the kind actions on Labor Day of Lonnie Shults and his son Tony and a neighbor Jim. We had driven our motorcycle from Basalt to Piceance Creek to look at an area known for fossils. My husband forgot to turn off the ignition[Read More…]
Letter: Rangely Safehouse: Thanks to Chevron
Rangely Safehouse would like to thank Chevron for their donation of $2,000. I have been involved with this program since 1985 and I don’t think that there has been year that we didn’t receive financial support from this company.
Letter: Volunteers made celebration a success
This year’s Septemberfest was a huge success because of all the volunteer help and donations that were received. Friday afternoon at Nichols Store, Mrs. Pat Hejl, Mrs. Peggy Rector and I seasoned and wrapped 44 roasts in an hour 45 minutes for the dinner on Labor Day.
Letter: State GOP subverting will of the people
I am very disappointed in the Colorado Republican Party. They are ignoring the will of the Colorado Republican voters and choosing their own candidate in the governor’s race.

The Meeker Classic Sheepdog Championship Committee has always made sure that the residents of Walbridge Wing have a pass to the trials. They take extra special care to make sure we are comfortable and have everything we need while we are there. We are blessed to have such a thoughtful[Read More…]
Letter: Thanks for help after vehicle broke down
Our vehicle broke down Saturday about a mile out of town. I would really like to thank Judy Bivens who saw us from her house and came down to see if she could help. Two sheriff’s deputies — I didn’t get their names — but we very much appreciate your[Read More…]

Letter: Bridge doesn’t need to be replaced
Rio Blanco County and the Colorado Department of Transportation are partners in a project to replace a bridge over the South Fork of the White River a few miles below the South Fork Campground. The existing bridge is a single lane, steel truss located on a single-lane county road, which[Read More…]
