As early as 1955, the quest for higher learning in the northwest corner of Colorado was ongoing. That year, the state passed House Joint Resolution No. 8, which focused on the need for higher education facilities in northwestern Colorado.

Junior College districts established after separation
Rangely College separated from Mesa College in 1970 and in July of 1974, Rangely College officially became Colorado Northwestern Community College, a name change that reflected the many communities the College was serving.
Original song written & produced for CNCC 50
Musician Shea Bramer of Grand Junction recently wrote and produced a song honoring Colorado Northwestern Community College’s 50th anniversary. Bramer first introduced the song titled “We Will Carry On” last April at the annual CNCC Foundation Dinner/Dance.

Tipton to commemorate 1962 Aspinall speech
The late Wayne N. Aspinall, who served as U.S. Representative from Colorado’s 4th District from 1949 to 1972, was the keynote speaker at Rangely College’s 1962 Dedication Ceremony. His speech will again be read at this Saturday’s Colorado Northwestern Community College 50th Anniversary Re-dedication Celebration.

Colorado gas prices falling
RBC I Average retail gasoline prices in Colorado have fallen 1.5 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.69/g yesterday. This compares with the national average that has increased 0.6 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.80/g, according to gasoline price website ColoradoGasPrices.com.
