MEEKER I Gearing up for the holiday season, the Meeker Chamber of Commerce is promoting Small Business Saturday on Nov. 30.
Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses across the country. Founded by American Express in 2010, this day is celebrated every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, which is traditionally the busiest shopping day of the year in the United States
Katelin Cook, executive director of the Meeker Chamber of Commerce, said the chamber is encouraging local businesses to participate and make the most of Small Business Saturday to make that date the biggest shopping day of the year.
“Saturday will be the beginning o a week-long celebration in Meeker, with the Annual Tree Lighting and the Parade of Lights on Dec. 6,” Cook said.
“We are also encouraging Meeker-area residents to shop locally,” she said. “We will be distributing flyers around town that explain the importance of keeping dollars in our community.”
