MEEKER I Meeker Preschool will take on a different look this year, with new days and new employees on hand as classes begin.
The preschool will once again offer four classes, two in the morning and two in the afternoon, Monday through Thursday, for children enrolled in the program. In previous years, kids attended class on Tuesday through Friday, but the hours have remained the same, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and noon to 3:10 p.m., with early release on Wednesday at about 2:10 p.m.
This year, parents will attend the first day of class — Sept. 3 — with their children as a sort of open house, and classes will resume normally on the Sept. 4.
The returning teachers this year are Kaleyne Turner, who is in her fifth year in the position, Shelly Nielsen will begin her sixth year with the program, and new employee Beth Willey will join the staff, along with another new member of the team.
Two new additions are replacing long time preschool teacher, Molly Theos, after eight years in the program, and Amber Garcia, who was there five years.
This year, the program is also taking children turning age 3 by Aug. 15 with a tuition agreement, along with the traditional 4-year-old students.
Parents are welcome to bring and drop off supplies, visit with the teachers and simply introduce their children to the environment on Sept. 3. They can stay as long as they would like and take the opportunity to ask questions and familiarize their kids with the school.
