Chintala signs with CCC

MEEKER I According to the old saying, “It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog.” Such is the case for Meeker High School senior Kaysyn Chintala, who recently signed her letter of intent to play volleyball for Colby Community College in Colby, Kans.
“I looked at a few schools – Western State, Mesa, UCCS and a community college in Utah,” she said. The school in Utah quit calling when she told them her height, but that didn’t stop her.
She played in this year’s Colorado Coaches of Girl’s Sports All State Games where the Colby coach “fell in love with her hands.”
Kaysyn was an outstanding setter for the volleyball team and she is known for her “soft” hands and hard work. The Colby coach invited her to practice with the team and then offered Kaysyn tuition, fees and books to come play for the team.
Kaysyn was extremely excited about the offer and officially accepted by signing her letter last week.
“I am excited about the new experience, and to have the opportunity to do something I love,” she said. She has participated in volleyball, basketball and track as well as been a member of FBLA, FCCLA and FFA throughout her high school career. This year she’s narrowed her activities down to focus on sports as a senior.
Her parents Greg (Roxie) Chintala, and Becca (Allan) Nielsen are extremely excited about her future and proud of her accomplishments. Her parents have been very involved in her success. Greg Chintala is the current basketball coach for the Meeker girls’ basketball team, which is off to an outstanding start this season and her mom was her middle school teacher.
Kaysyn’s accomplishments are a result of her perseverance and ability to play hard for a variety of coaches. She is proof that size doesn’t matter. Heart is what carries an athlete to making a dream come true. Congratulations and good luck to Kaysyn in her bright future. She will represent Meeker very well at the collegiate level.
