RBC I Two senior volleyball players from Rio Blanco County, one from Meeker and one from Rangely, represented their teams and the Western Slope League last Sunday in Arvada, playing in the Colorado Coaches of Girls’ Sports (CCGS) all-state volleyball match.
Meeker’s Kaysyn Chintala and Rangely’s Quincey Thacker, both first team all-conference players, were selected to play in the 2A all-state match. As has been the case for the past four years, both played on different teams.
“It was a privilege to play next to girls who were selected because they know the game so well,” Chintala said. “What a terrific experience.”
Chintala played on the Blue team, which lost the first game 20-25 but won the next two and the match 25-18 and 25-23 in close games but both enjoyed the experience.
“The all-state tournament, is a experience that every athlete should strive for,” Thacker said. “It was amazing to be able to play with the 18 best 2A athletes in the state. Don’t let anyone tell you you can’t, you can accomplish anything you put your mind to. Thanks to my coaches and family and to all that supported me.”
Thacker was coached by Jimmie Mergelman and Christy Atwood coached Chintala during her high school career.
