The application pertains to the existing Colowyo Coal Mine, Permit No. C-1981-019 by Colowyo Coal Company L.P., 5731 State Highway No. 13, Meeker, Colorado 81641, filed with the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (CDRMS), Colorado Department of Natural Resources, 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, Colorado 80203 and approved by the Division on April 5, 2013 (latest Permit Renewal). The Colowyo Mine is located approximately 28 miles south of Craig, Colorado. The bond release areas, which include areas reclaimed from 1996 to 2014, total 189.6 acres, and are shown in detail in Exhibit 1. Listed below is a general legal description of these areas: Township 3 North, Range 93 West of the 6th P.M. Section 3 – SW1/4 of the N1/2 Section 4 – N 1/2, NE 1/4; Section 10 -N 1/2; Section 15 – NW 1/4; Section 16 – SW1/4 of the S1/2 Section 17 – N 1/2; Section 20 – NE 1/4; Section 21 – NW 1/4; Colowyo currently holds a self-bond (Bond No. SB-010) in the amount of $80,517,829. ADVERTISEMENT FOR BID
Sealed BIDS for construction of the Town of Rangely Water Treatment Plant Structural Improvements Phase 2.5, will be received by the Town of Rangely at Town Hall, 209 E. Main Street, Rangely, Colorado, 81648, until 3:00pm, Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud. The project generally consists of structural stabilization of the existing water treatment facility, roof and parapet wall repairs, and addition of flexible joints to buried piping between the plant s treatment trains. A Bid Bond will be required. Performance and Payment Bonds will be required upon contract award. A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday June 23, 2015, at the Town of Rangely Water Treatment Plant located at 2000 E. Main Street (HWY 64) in Rangely, Colorado. One set of 11 x17 drawings and a Project Manual with specifications and one electronic disk of pdf s of the Contract Documents will be furnished to potential bidders for a fee of $100.00 after June 18, 2015. Electronic documents are availablefree of charge after June 18, 2015 from the Town of Rangely at Town Hall, 209 E. Main Street, Rangely, Colorado, 81648. Documents available for reviewing at: Town Hall All questions pertaining to the project shall be directed to Jocelyn Mullen, PE through email at [email protected] no later than July 1, 2015 at 5pm. This project is being funded in its entirety by the Town of Rangely.

NOTICE OF AERIAL SPRAYING FOR CONTROL OF FLIES AND MOSQUITOES
The Town Board has determined that it is in the public interest to conduct aerial spraying along the river within the Town limits and outlying adjacent areas. Aerial spraying will be conducted within the Town limits just after daybreak beginning June 20th through July 2nd, 2015 depending upon weather conditions. Jace Mobley was named Player of the Western Slope League and all-conference, Ryan Sullivan all-conference, Jonathon Fitzgibbons all-conference, Ethan Quinn honorable mention all-conference, Jacob Simonsen honorable mention all conference. Mobley will play in All State games. Coach Klark Kindler was named Western Slope Coach of the Year. Left to right: Bryan Rosas, Simonsen, Quinn, Fitzgibbons, Mobley and Sullivan.

  • Mormon crickets have hatched near Rangely. They were all sighted on BLM land north of Hwy. 64 near the junction of CR 96 and CR 1, down a dirt road near the Moffat County line.  The picture shown was taken yesterday by Mary Meinen from Rangely. She says the crickets are about the size of a ladybug (less than 1/2”). Some of them are actually yellow in color but most of them are darker. They are milling around and getting ready to start moving soon. Note: Photo is not to scale.
Rio Blanco County and the White River and Douglas Creek Conservation Districts are still asking for your help to identify additional hatch-outs of crickets so that control efforts can be put in place. The success of the program will highly depend upon local landowners and the public helping to locate crickets as soon as they hatch.  See last week’s paper for a list of ways to help or contact the County Weed & Pest District at 970-878-9670 or the Conservation District office at 970-878-9838 with any questions.
