Town of Meeker Municipal Code 18.1.137 created a clear operation area for all Town maintenance equipment along all streets within the Town. All trees, tree branches and other obstructions within this operation area or which are causing visual obstruction at intersections must be removed to permit the safe operation of Town equipment and promote the safe movement of vehicular traffic. Western Construction Co., 3354 C Road, Palisade, CO 81526 for all work done by said CONTRACTOR on the project known as Rio Blanco County Road 10 Bridge Replacement Project.

Parkerson Construction Inc., in behalf of Ace West Trucking Inc., 710 South 15th Street, Grand Junction, Colorado, has filed an application for a Construction Materials Limited Impact (110) Reclamation Permit with the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board under provisions of the Colorado Land Reclamation Act for the Extraction and Construction of Materials. The existing mine is known as the East Douglas Pit, and is located at or near Section 35, Township 2S, Range 101W, 6th Prime Meridian. The proposed date of commencement for the expansion is November of 2016 and the proposed date of Completion is November of 2046. The proposed future land use is rangeland.
Additional information and tentative decision date may be obtained from the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203, 303-866-3567, or at the Rio Blanco County Planning Department, 200 Main Street, Meeker, CO, 81641, 970-878-9456, or at the above-named application. A complete copy of the application is available at the above-named County Planning office and at the Division’s office. Comments concerning the application and the exhibits must be in writing and must be received by the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety by 4:00 pm, October 26, 2015.

Comments related to noise, truck traffic, hours of operation, visual impacts, effects on property values and other social or economic concerns are issues not subject to this Office’s jurisdiction.   • Mormon crickets have hatched near Rangely. They were all sighted on BLM land north of Hwy. 64 near the junction of CR 96 and CR 1, down a dirt road near the Moffat County line.  The picture shown was taken yesterday by Mary Meinen from Rangely. She says the crickets are about the size of a ladybug (less than 1/2”). Some of them are actually yellow in color but most of them are darker. They are milling around and getting ready to start moving soon. Note: Photo is not to scale.
Rio Blanco County and the White River and Douglas Creek Conservation Districts are still asking for your help to identify additional hatch-outs of crickets so that control efforts can be put in place. The success of the program will highly depend upon local landowners and the public helping to locate crickets as soon as they hatch.  See last week’s paper for a list of ways to help or contact the County Weed & Pest District at 970-878-9670 or the Conservation District office at 970-878-9838 with any questions.
