RANGELY I Colorado Northwestern Community College’s flight team proved it can fly with the big boys. And girls.
“We are the third-best flight team in the western half of the U.S., excluding Arizona, California, Oregon and Washington,” said Jason Herkimer, director of the CNCC aviation technology flight program and Rangely Airport Manager. “We have beat all four-year institutions with a flight program, except the Air Force Academy.”
CNCC recently competed at the National Intercollegiate Flying Association competition in Colorado Springs. Three of CNCC’s flight students placed in the top 10 pilots in the region. Shaun Lee (2), Kyle Weinholdt (5) and Marcus Kindall (9)
In the top female contestant category, CNCC’s Jennesee Forster placed second.
