RANGELY I The Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) Foundation held its 11th annual Foundation Dinner Dance on Saturday in the Weiss Colorado Room, and the gathering was a sweeping success toward gathering scholarship funds from those in attendance.

Approximately 180 dinner guests attended for almost a full house. Participants were entertained with silent and live auctions, as well as recognition of student scholarship recipients and donor appreciation awards.

Recognized for its constant willingness to help out when requested, the Western Rio Blanco Metropolitan Recreation District was honored at the annual CNCC Foundation Dinner on campus Saturday night. Master of ceremonies Sam Tolley welcomed the crowd and pointed out the student scholarship recipients scrolling on the screen and also introduced recipients actually present at the dinner. He also announced that a good portion of the proceeds from the annual dinner dance were earmarked for additional student scholarships.
Tolley talked about the silent auction and invited bidders to take a look at items and place their bids. He then asked attendees to examine the business appreciation banner on the wall above the silent auction, which thanked all the supporters from Rangely’s businesses and also those in the CNCC surrounding area.
One of the largest contributions during Colorado Northwestern Community College’s Annual Foundation Dinner was a check for $2,000 from Deserado Mine to be earmarked for scholarships. Dinner guests enjoyed a wonderful prime rib dinner provided by Sodexo and relaxed to the music performed by ”Green Room,” featuring Shae Bramer and Kellen Michael from Grand Junction.
Tolley introduced auctioneer Les Mergelman as he began the live auction with the CNCC Rodeo Club coach and students up for bid to work to earn money for their club. Not only were the rodeo students flexing their muscles with multiple one-armed push-ups, they also fully engaged and entertained the audience.

It grew to more than $4,000 by the end of the evening.

When the club members were all sold, Mergelman shifted the bidding to all live auction items donated for the event.
After the auction, attention was drawn back to “Green Room,” which continued to entertain.
