RBC I Colorado Northwestern Community College is pleased to bestow the Presidential Honors Scholarship to Caitlyn Nicole Berry from Oak Creek, Colo. Berry related her future plans to the nomination committee with her application, stating, “By going to Colorado Northwestern Community College, I hope to receive an associate degree in general science. While taking classes for my associate of science degree, I hope to complete my prerequisites for nursing school.”
The criteria for the CNCC Presidential Honors Scholarship included the requirement that the recipient has to be a valedictorian with a minimum 3.75 GPA or a graduating senior with a 4.0 GPA. Berry attended Soroco High School in Oak Creek, Colo., and was graduated in spring 2011 with a 4.0 GPA. Berry emphasized this in her application, “Academically, I held a 4.0 all four years of high school and excelled in all of my studies.” This was accomplished even with her participation in several clubs, as well as athletics.
“Throughout high school, I played four years of volleyball on all three levels of intensity and basketball three years playing on junior varsity and varsity.” Berry added, “In volleyball we had a winning season and I was a first pick for all-state setter and all-conference for our league.”
Her future plans at CNCC include, “…I plan to either play or try out for their volleyball team to get involved with the school.”
Berry added, “I have had a desire to have a career in health care and volunteer abroad for many years. Volunteering has provided a great opportunity for me to be able to give back to my community.”
