Collins, Ducey and Walsh dominate season opener

Lex Collins, Bryce Ducey and Pat Walsh dominated the competition in the first tournament of the golf season on a cold and windy Meeker Golf Course on Saturday to win the three-person scramble by six strokes.
The trio scrambled to record one eagle, nine birdies and eight pars to finish the 18-holes with an 11-under-par 57 to win the tournament.
“Our team played well despite the wind, and it was a good turnout for the first tournament of the year,” Ducey said of his team’s performance. “Our team would like to thank Larin Crase for his support of our trio.”
Crase, Kyle Frary and Danielle Feola had the second-best gross score but used their handicap to take first place net honors, giving Jill Massey, Jason and Roston Steiner second-place gross with a 55.
The field included nine teams, and one of the most experienced finished with the second-best net score. Greg Ackerman, Gary Stewart and Clint Chappell were 10 behind Collins’ team in gross score but used their combined handicap to finish with the second-best net score (54).
The next tournament will be the Berry Brothers two-person scramble May 17.
